Dgn 542: Sc. 4981 Civil War - Surrender 5"x7" Dragon Card reproducing a Currier & Ives print depicting the surrender of Confederate Gen. Joseph E. Johnston to Union Gen. William T. Sherman, April 26th, 1865. The print is from about 1865 and was hand-colored. Although ordered to continue to fight a guerrilla war, Johnston felt it would result in pointless bloodshed. His was the last major Confederate army to surrender.
