From Great American Stamp Show 2024

Two sets of stamps — Pinback Buttons and Autumn Colors — were issued at the show (of which Americover is a part) and at least 11 pictorial postmarks were available. The following are the Dragon Cards results

    Autumn Colors / Charter Oak

Charter Oak is the legendary tree that is a symbol of American independence and we presume that before it fell in an 1856 storm, the Charter Oak's leaves turned colors in autumn.

A single from the set of 10 (the same one on every copy of this card) is tied by the Charter Oak Americover Station pictorial postmark with the first-day date. The stamps were issued at the show, of which Americover is a part. — larger illustration (new window)...$3.00

A single from the set of 10 (the same one on every copy of this card) is tied by the GASS Station pictorial postmark with the first-day date celebrating the American Topical Association's 75th anniversary. The stamps were issued at the show. — larger illustration (new window)...$3.00

A combination with Sc. 772 Connecticut Tercentenary is on the way. I forgot to bring the stamps to the show!

Note that only three of the 10 stamps were serviced (one for each postmark). No complete set exists, although I might be talked into servicing some.

    National Cachetmakers Day

A presidential proclamation (by the president of the American First Day Cover Society) declared Saturday, August 17th to be National Cachetmakers Day, and the Americover Station postmark reflects that. It's just a bit of whimsy.

    Dgn 840

Dgn 840: Sc. N/A National Cachetmakers Day — 5"x7" Dragon Card featuring art of an anthropomorphic easel. Sc. 5849 Celebration Blooms is tied by the National Cachetmakers Day Americover Station pictorial postmark from Great American Stamp Show. Americover is a part of GASS. — larger illustration (new window)...$3.00

    Willie Mays

The Americover Station postmark for Sunday, August 18th was "Celebrating Heroes of the Batters Box," and I figured "Why wait? Let's honor Willie Mays now, and not wait three years or more."

    Dgn 841

Dgn 841: Sc. N/A Willie Mays — 5"x7" Dragon Card reproducing a 1952 Bowman baseball card for Willie Mays. A flag stamp is tied by the Americover Station "Celebrating Heroes of the Batter's Box" pictorial postmark, August 18, 2024. Americover is a part of GASS. — larger illustration (new window)...$3.00
