U.S. Navy Band Dgn 859b
$4.00

Sc. 6004 U.S. Navy on a 5"x7" Dragon Card showing a photo of the band in 1925, the year it was established. It is standing in front of the Library of Congress. The pictorial postmark ties Sc. 880 Famous Americans/John Philip Sousa and Sc. 3153 "Stars & Stripes Forever." Sousa re-enlisted in the Navy for Word War I and served as bandmaster at the Great Lakes Naval Station near Chicago until the end of the war. Great for a music- or military-on-stamps collection!
