Amtrak, a quasi-public corporation, took over most intercity rail passenger service in 1971. A July 1, 2021, Washington DC round postmark ties the Transcontinental Railroad Golden Spike stamp (Sc. 5379). Great for a trains-, railroads- or transportation-on-stamps collection!
