    Celebrity Chefs

    Dgn 520

Dgn 520: Sc. 4922-26 Celebrity Chefs — 5"x7" Dragon Card showing a bright, showy modern kitchen — almost like a TV studio. Strips of 2 and 3 stamps, with the Digital Color Postmark — larger illustration (new window)...$5.50

    Batman

    Dgn 521

Dgn 521: Sc. 4928-35 Batman — Set of 4 5"x7" Dragon Cards, each with two of the eight stamps: A character and a Bat Signal for an era. Each card has the same art of a Gotham City, but with slightly different colors. Each pair of stamps is tied by the first day pictorial hand cancel — larger illustration (new window)...$9.00

    Winter Fun

    Dgn 523

Dgn 523: Sc. 4938/4940 Winter Fun snowman/cardinal — set of 2 Winter Fun envelopes with the matching stamps affixed. The Cardinal envelope also has the cardinal sticker that was supplied by the USPS. The art is from a lithograph by Nathaniel Currier, about 1855, shortly before he made Ives a partner in his company. The Dragon Cards cachet is printed on the envelope. First Day of Issue hand cancel. — larger illustration (new window)...$4.00

Why just the two stamps on Dgn 523 and not all four Winter Fun stamps? Because only two designs were used by the USPS for the Winter Fun envelopes, and this Dragon "Card" (and we admit we're stretching the definition of "Card" on this issue, if not actually beating it to death) was originally conceived for just the envelopes. Then we decided to make them combos.

First Day of Issue hand cancel. Three sets were made as tests before the Winter Fun envelopes were run through the printer. One set was donated to an AFDCS Fund-Raising Auction — larger illustration (new window).
